Vail Valley Alive With Summer Music

Most Vail Valley locals came for the winters, but stayed for the summers. With their mild climate and superb weather, you'll probably want to spend those languorous long summer days playing outdoors, too. And then there's the music.

The hills come alive with music each June through early August at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival (877-812-5700; http://www.vailmusicfestival.org) held at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater/Vilar Pavilion in Vail. Musical offerings include everything from classical to chamber to pops. This summer finds the Rochester Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic in residence.

The Vail International Dance Festival (970-949-1999 or 888-920-2787; http://www.vaildance.org) features a variety of dance artists from around the world, with classic, contemporary and world premiere performances. They appear on stage at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater/ Vilar Pavilion.

You can also enjoy Hot Summer Nights, (970-476-5601) a series of free concerts Tuesday nights during June and July. Selections include rock, blues, bluegrass and jazz and can be enjoyed at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater/Vilar Pavilion.
