Bike Your Way Through the Vail Valley

Vail_biking.jpg

Bike shops are on just about every corner during the summertime. Rent hourly, by the day, or by the week. Ride throughout the Vail Valley on the scenic, seven-mile paved Vail Recreation Path. It follows Gore Creek through alpine fields, aspen groves and Vail's pedestrian villages. Or hop off the path and find a mountain bike trail through the mountains. Any bike shop can send you out the door with a list of great rides.

Another option is to take your bike to the top of the mountain. Bikes can be uploaded at the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Lionshead, the Vista Bahn chair in Vail Village, or the Centennial chairlift in Beaver Creek. There are switchback roads that will get you down safely. Or if you're a downhiller who's more adventuresome, hop on the specially created downhill trails and head straight to the bottom. Make sure you're wearing a helmet.

When you get off the chairlift at the top, take a minute to take in the breathtaking views of the Gore Range and Mount of the Holy Cross.

Join more than 1,000 riders for the 100-mile Colorado-Eagle River Ride, July 26.
