A Perfect Blend Of Sun And Snow

Whistler.JPG

Whistler in summer is an experience. The mountains soar, the scenery is an ever-changing canvas. Snow clings to the peaks long into the season, and the light bounces around up there, creating dramatic, picture postcard views and moving sunsets. People have been coming here for generations and the locals lucky enough to call it home guard its landmarks with passion. Nightlife is as abundant as the wildlife. Easy to see why it was picked as co-venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Whistler is home to four of Canada's top 100 golf courses, including the legendary Nicklaus North Golf Course. Golf Digest has rated Whistler one of the "Top 20 Greatest Golf Destinations in the World" and Canada's Golf Course Ranking Magazine slotted Whistler in the top spot as the "Number One Golf Resort in Canada." You get a taste of the magnificence of the courses here half an hour into the ride to Whistler when the signature 14th hole at the Furry Creek Golf and Country Club comes into view. From the highway, golfers can see the entire Par 3 hole jutting out into the icy waters of Howe Sound.

Work a little, take a hike and reward yourself with stunning 360-degree vistas from atop Whistler Mountain. Whistler's Peak Adventure takes you to the mountain's highest accessible point and lets you explore. Go for a hike, relax with a picnic or just take in the magnificent scenery from the deck of the Roundhouse Lodge.

Horseback riding and mountain biking through high mountain meadows and across crystalline streams is a must, as is a summer ski on Blackcomb's snowy glaciers where it's been known to snow on the 4th of July. Flightseeing over mountains and glaciers offers the best view of all, and backcountry fishing gets you up close with nature.

Top off the day with some shopping or a casual drink at an outdoor cafe.
