Whistler Ready to Grill

Whistler_BBQ.JPG

One of the world's great destination resorts, less than a two-hour drive from Vancouver. So named because of the shrill whistling sounds made by the Western Hoary Marmots who live in the rocky canyons. Whistler is more than just world-class skiing, its Coast Mountain setting offers visitors a wide variety of both winter and summer activities, like barbecuing. Whistler will again be hosting the Annual Canadian BBQ Championships on Aug. 2 - 3 this year. The Championships are the highlight of the Pacific Northwest's competitive BBQ circuit, and a draw qualifier event for the American Royal World Championships in Kansas City, as well as the Jack Daniel's World Championship BBQ event in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

Expect to see as many as 50 teams barbecuing, cooking, socializing and celebrating for three solid days. Grab a plate and hang around for the Budweiser King of the Grill 'Anything Goes' competition, the 6th annual Backyard Burger Championship, a CASI sanctioned Chili competition and the Grand Marnier Cocktail Contest. More than $12,000 in cash and prizes. For more information or to download an entry form visit http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/todo/events/detail/bbqchamps.htm
