The Olympic Museum, (518-523-1655/800-462-6236; http://www.orda.org/newsite/togo/museum.php), 218 Main Street, Lake Placid, is replete with memorabilia, videos, photos, and information on both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. See the contrast and remarkable improvements in clothing, equipment, and accessories over the 48-year span.
The MacKenzie-Intervale Ski Jumping Complex features a glass-enclosed elevator to the top of the K120 Ski Jump tower, 26 stories high, where you can take in a panoramic view of the Adirondack Park. Bobsled Ride. Take a ride on a wheeled sled with an expert driver down the 1980 Olympic bobsled track at Mount Van Hoevenberg.
Kodak Sports Park. Watch freestyle skiers practicing aerial maneuvers and landing in a giant pool. See the MacKenzie-Intervale Ski Jumping Complex; Verizon Sports Complex, home of the newest combined bobsled/luge/skeleton track in the world, and a trolley tour of the facility; and the 1932 and 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum.
