The Stratton Mountain area has several professional theater companies with productions running June through September. Among them, the Dorset Theatre Festival.

The Dorset Theatre Festival, located in the restored, air-conditioned Dorset Playhouse, is the two-time winner of the prestigious Moss Hart Memorial Award for the best professional theatre production in New England. Under the helm of new Artistic Director Carl Forsman, the 2008 summer season opens June 14 with "Theophilus North," a play by Thornton Wilder.
