Switzerland was made for walking with short hikes taking you from one enchanting town to another.
You can walk part way up toward the Matterhorn, assuming you don't want to climb it. When you hit the snowline, watch out for summer skiers. There are countless other places where wandering in the mountains is the chief activity. Switzerland has trails by the thousands, well-defined and marked to tell you how far to the next landmark or village. One of the best areas is in the Jungfrau Region, where the awesome Eiger towers over Grindelwald.
